# OpenDQV Cloud

OpenDQV Cloud is the managed, enterprise service in the OpenDQV family. OpenDQV
is an open data-contract standard; OpenDQV Cloud runs that standard as a
write-time, multi-tenant validation engine you reach over HTTPS or through
MCP-compatible AI assistants.

## What it does

- **Write-time validation.** Records are checked against a data contract as they
  are written. A failing record can be blocked (enforcement) or logged without
  blocking (observation) — you choose per contract.
- **Data contracts.** Human-readable YAML contracts define the rules. Unlimited
  contracts at every tier.
- **Immutable audit trail.** Every validation is recorded in a hash-chained,
  point-in-time-reconstructable audit log — evidence for regulated data
  governance.
- **Reachable by AI assistants.** The service exposes an MCP surface, so an
  MCP-compatible assistant can ask questions like "what failed validation last
  week?" or "which rule is failing most?" in natural language.

## What it is not

OpenDQV Cloud is data quality — deliberately just that. It is not a data
catalog, lineage tool, observability platform, or master-data-management suite.
It does one job well: enforcing data quality at write time.
